no? well, let me introduce this wondrous, WONDROUS movement to you. as with all things in all life, we must begin by looking back upon the past, the past that has so kindly brought us here to witness these spectacular times, confusing as they are.
it all began one FINEEEEE day when there was a 'resurgent interest in square dancing and folk dancing' in New York City in the 1940s, so much so that a man found himself deeply steeped in the act of extending the franchise to software, making it free (AS IN LIBRE, NOT GRATIS) to an extent that even he was unfamiliar with the extent of his steepiocitisationalness. AAAAAAAAAAA, if only; then this happens.
ignore the shite formatting :))))there's just so much talent to be found on the indie web; have you ever looked at the MelonLand forums, or the 32-bit Cafe, or just Neocities as a whole? plus, such an awful amount of it is entirely unrequited. it's much the same case as with open-source projects all around, wherein there can almost always be found a singular developer (remember that one corejs dev? no? here you go) holding up our entire world; after all:
(any individual found to have spoken of hotlinking shall be subject to eternal damnation with immediacy.)
then again, it is immensely pleasurable to witness the recent resurgence in the adoption of such sites again. plus, there can always be found websites alike Neocities and SpaceHey harbouring such communities. it is only unfortunate though, then, the extent to which laws such as The Online Safety Act have impeded matters for these spaces, as it has done very little but complicate matters for smaller communities, particularly those lacking in legal resources or adequeate funding.
yet, as much as it is challenging to remain optimistic in the light of such events, i would rather not bog us all down with the past; today is an opportunity for you (yes, YOU) to find your own such space or niche on the internet. the MelonLand Project has always served as an inspiration to me for this very reason, as have certain other smaller sites such as Badgraph1csghost's Neocities page; the latter page perfectly captures the aforementioned ideas imho, and i will NEVER fail not to lay a mention to their articles on how to use a computer on any of my websites.
SO GO MAKE YOUR OWN SPACE AND GET ON WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD
or is it?
